Beneath every girl's dream, is a fairytale. Mine started like so many others, with Cinderella. Although it is considered the ultimate fairytale of all time, I've never really shown that much interest towards it. I consider The Princess and The Pea as my favourite. From fairytales, I grew more and more fonder with books. The words captivates me in every sense possible. I look forward for every next read. My mother, supported me in this pastime. She used to write poetry so words, to her is no strange creature.
My first exposure to YA came on my 11th birthday. My mother bought me half a dozen of books. One was The Grooming of Alice by Phyllis Reynold Naylors. This might sound cliche but I was 11, and I judge books by the cover so I quickly grabbed that one as it has the best cover compared to others. I just couldn't put the book down.
Fast forward a few years, here I am in the living room, on the midst of creating a Book Blog. I know there are numerous book bloggers out there, so many better than I will ever be. My intention is not to outcome them but to share my thoughts and opinions on this clearly beloved genre. However, I come with a twist, I live in Malaysia. (if you don't know where this is, you can google it) Malaysia isn't exactly up-to-date with YA but I vow to educate them, to expose them to the greatness of this genre and the goods it has done to many of us.
So, follow me on this journey, to see the exposure of YA in Malaysia from the eyes of a devoted YA fan.
Talk about a different perspectives, right?
